There’s something very special about listening to new music that pulls at your heart strings when you least expect it.

I was on my way to Oxford this week on the train, having a listen to a new CD I got for Christmas. I was enjoying listening to some of the  that tracks I know and love, then I left the CD running until the last track came on. It was a duet from ‘Die Tote Stadt’, by Korngold - ”Glück das mir verblieb” or ‘Marrietta’s Lied’. I have heard it before as a solo but I can’t have taken it in because this time I just listened in amazement.

I always feel so privileged to have access to music that makes all the world and time seem to stop around you. The slight disadvantage being that it seems almost impossible to start it again and return to real life!

Sorry this has been on the soppy and sentimental side, but there you go.
