So, Autumn arrived and feels as if it has almost gone already! (This isn’t helped by the premature arrival of Christmas in all the shop windows!) But despite this, it’s been a busy couple of months musically with lots of really fun highlights; One of which was my first performance in the Royal Albert Hall with the Philharmonia Chorus. We lifted Beethoven’s 9th symphony to the rafters to the beautiful sound of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and soloists.
I’ve also had the pleasure of singing in a couple of Sunday Evening Coffee Concerts with the chamber ensemble ‘Epiphany’, which I always really enjoy. One of which was just this week – a vocal recital where I had the real honour of singing some of the most beautiful pieces from the vocal repertoire, including Schumann’s ‘Frauenliebe und Leben’, which is one of my all-time favourites! Some videos of these should be available very soon here on my website, so please feel free to have a listen!
Another development since September, has been taking on a couple of choirs at Macclesfield Music Centre where I teach! This has been really exciting and I’ve been loving meeting everyone involved and exploring some fab music with them. Singing teaching for me in general is such a joy – to be able to pass on what I’ve learned to others and see them understanding and improving, and being involved in these choirs makes it all the more worthwhile as I see the groups growing and enhancing as an ensemble.
